LILY LOVES: Stella & Dot's Isa Disc Necklace

If you have been following me for awhile, you've probably come to the conclusion that I have a thing for black. I'll admit that when you look into my closet, it isn't a vast sea of colour. Shades of onyx, graphite and ebony may be pretty names but when it comes down to it, they all mean the same thing at the end of the day.
And while this zebra is trying to change her stripes for 2016, after decades of chiselling my signature sombre look, baby steps are in order to accomplish the major task at hand so I turned to one of my favourite stylish gals Olivia Palermo for a little inspiration.
Olivia Palermo knows how to work the fashion game and I am always just a little amazed at how she can take any accessory, high street pick or thrift shop find, and turn it into the knock-out key of her outfit. Lesson learned from Ms. Palermo? Look towards accessories with colour to take any look from doldrum to dashing!

(Just a slice of the wardrobe but I assure you, the view looks the same from any standpoint!)

After my last collaboration with Stella & Dot in October, I was thrilled when they asked me once again to pick out another of my favourite pieces that they could send over for a little review!
The Isa Disc Necklace caught my eye immediately!
Bold, layered and just the right amount of kicked up colour, it takes my uniform of black pieces to another level! It arrived just in time for the holidays and happened to be one of the first things people mentioned right after saying "I'm not sure but something looks different about you!"
Many thanks again to Stella & Dot for thinking of me!

Looking to add a little colour yourself?

WHAT SHE SAID: Tao Porchon-Lynch

(96 year-old yoga teacher)

“I don’t believe in age. When people ask me about age, I tell them to look at all the trees around them. They’re hundreds of years old. They may look as if they’re dying at the moment, but they’re not; they’re recycling themselves. And in a couple of months, they’re going to be reborn again."

AT THE TABLE: Eggnog Pound Cake

Sir Paul once sang that he got by with a little help from his friends and it rang true for me too this week when I found myself in the kitchen with a few cups of eggnog and the lovely Jessica Gordon Ryan on my iPad!
We are trying our hardest to get into the Christmas spirit around here but it hasn't been easy without a trace of snow on the ground and spring-like temps greeting us every morning
(And I'm complaining why exactly??)
I thought since I can't really control the 'jolly' levels outside of the house maybe I could fill every corner of the inside with scents synonymous with Christmas and that's where my old friend Jessica Gordon Ryan comes in!
Jessica featured a recipe for this eggnog pound cake last week and I have not been able to get it out of my mind. Since I found myself thinking of this delightful confection every time I poured myself a cup of coffee and looked over at an empty plate, it just wouldn't be right if I didn't add the essences of nutmeg, eggnog and warm rum to my holiday scent repertoire.
(I can justify just about anything if necessary!)
With my apron on and with Jessica at virtual arms length, I dove into the kitchen this week and came out the victor! The cake was unbelievably delicious and a big hit with the family who, without any prodding, finished every last bit of Christmas decorating that I had left due to lack of holiday spirit.
It was as scrumptious as Jessica promised it would be, as if there was ever a doubt!

The resident hostess over at The Entertaining House would never steer us wrong when it comes to being kind to our taste buds so hop over there right now for the full details on this recipe!
