Since today just so happens to be National Margarita Day, we thought we would start off our 'Here's to the Weekend' happy hour with a proper celebration.
A scrumptious variation on the traditional recipe, the intensely-hued Blood Orange Margarita is the perfect thing to add a little colour to an otherwise grey winter weekend.
Cheers!
Blood Orange Margarita
1 1/2 oz tequila
3/4 oz triple sec
3/4 oz fresh lime juice
3/4 oz fresh blood orange juice
Pour tequila, triple sec, sweet and sour mix and the two juices into a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake well to combine all the liquids and strain into a bucket glass filled with crushed ice and garnish with a blood orange wedge.
Sweet and Sour Cocktail Mix
Combine 1 cup sugar with 1 cup water and stir until sugar is completely dissolved. Add 1 cup fresh lime juice and 1 cup fresh lemon juice, stir again until liquids are mixed well.
Refrigerate until ready to use.
