STYLE :: The Muse ~ White Blazers, Toe Caps and Gwyneth Paltrow

Leave it to Gwyneth Paltrow to start off our week inspiring us with her chic take on city casual basics like a white jacket and cropped pants!
Sporting one of the sharpest shoe trends for the spring season, the Louis Vuitton toe-capped heels she is wearing (similar ones here, here and here) add a touch of glam to her skinny crops and tailored blazer, essentials for anyones spring wardrobe.

Love, love, love the colour of Ms. Paltrow's shoes but that doesn't mean we have to play absolute copycats to get the same fab look. A punch of colour is what we are looking for so add your own signature to it with a colour that knocks your socks off!

The Cocktail Hour: A 'Crack Baby' Toast to the Cambridge's

In honor of the Duke and Duchess' first anniversary, I thought it would only be right if we toasted them with the cocktail reported to be the Duchess' favorite. Not the fanciest of names but what it lacks in that department, it more than makes up for in sweet tastiness.
Cheers to 365 days of royal loveliness!

The Crack Baby

Ice
1 litre passion fruit juice
1/2 bottle vodka
1 small container of strawberries
10 oz. Chambord
1 bottle of champagne (or prosecco)
slices of lime (optional)

Mix the ice, passion fruit juice, vodka, chopped strawberries and Chambord in a blender and blend well. In a martini glass, pour half of the mixture from the blender, top off with champagne and lightly stir. Garnish with a slice of lime.
Serve chilled.

ETIQUETTE :: Mrs. Lemontree's Guide on How to Behave Here, There and Everywhere ~ Cell Phones and the Checkout Line

Brace yourselves kittens, today might get a little harsh.
Regardless of what anyone has ever led you to believe, cell phones are not for anytime and anywhere.  Especially when you are checking out at the grocery store.

Trying to balance a cellphone between your shoulder and cheek, watching your actual groceries being scanned properly, paying for said groceries AND having a conversation with your BFF at the same time does not make for a painless checkout. It is discourteous to the cashier who you are presently interacting with in real time and should politely have your full attention, not to mention the people behind you who also want to pay for their items in a timely fashion without having to hear about your son's latest escapade or how your dog just hasn't been herself lately.
We have all been witness to someone chatting away on the phone, while mistakenly (and sometimes rudely) telling the cashier that they have scanned their item incorrectly, all because they weren't (and can't) really pay attention to what is going on in front of them.
As you are approaching your turn, end your phone conversation, put your phone down and if it rings, let it forward to you message service. (Novel idea, isn't it my friends?!)

(I actually witnessed a lady doing all of this mentioned above with her arm in a sling! To say that the cashier, who she treated like her own personal servant, and the customers behind her became irate when she couldn't get her debit card out of her wallet due to both hands being occupied is an understatement. And yet with all this hoopla going on, she just couldn't end her call and put the phone down. When a customer behind her reprimanded her for causing a major backup, she fired off  a snappy 'mind your own business' which the fellow responded with a 'lady you just made it my business, I just heard your whole life story!')

Unless it's an emergency (like you're a death row inmate waiting for a call for the Governor's office or a completely unexpected call from your child's school or daycare), it's really not that important that it can't wait for 3 minutes, the approximate time it will take you to pay for your groceries. (It might seem like an eternity but in reality, it never takes more than five minutes to go through the checkout and that's pushing it!)

STYLE :: Monday's Muse ~ Coral, Tortoise and Meghan Draper

Mad Men fans (yours truly included in that bunch) were taken on a wild ride last night. A movie theatre 'adventure' and a little LSD amongst friends were jaw dropping moments to say the least but it was the vignette with Don Draper and his young bride Meghan, played by Jessica Pare, that had me riveted! Without going into spoiler mode (just hate that when the episode is so fresh!), the state of the Draper marriage (still in its infant stage) has started to show signs of tiny fissures of unhappiness.

But my oh my, did Meghan Draper not look fabulous while making a heated statement to her husband that  the sum of her stunningly dressed parts make up a more intricate individual than he might be prepared for and definitely one that could never be content as a one-dimensional Mrs. Don Draper.

Coral just screams 'spring' to me (great hue for practically anyone's wardrobe) and frankly I am really digging the matching purse/shoe look lately. It has been such an avoided sartorial route for so long, that I find it very refreshing, even slightly edgy to sport a look that the mass majority passes on.
What do you think of Meghan Draper's look?
