The 'Real' Winners at the Academy Awards

I know, I know, it should be all about the nominees and the films and all that but let's face it, for many of us it's all about the red carpet fashions (well at least it is for me!).

For anyone who had better things to do on a Sunday night and missed the Oscars, here is just a few of the style highlights of the evening.

Sandra Bullock in Marchesa

Not only a fabulous dress but this little darling was a big winner taking home the Best Actress award!

Carey Mulligan in Prada

Anna Kendrick in Elie Saab

Cameron Diaz in Oscar de la Renta

Demi Moore in Versace

Diane Kruger in Chanel Haute Couture

Jennifer Lopez in Armani Prive

Meryl Streep in Chris March

Elizabeth Banks in Versace

Maggie Gyllenhaal in Dries Van Noten

Helen Mirren in Badgley Mischka

Penelope Cruz in Donna Karan

Charlize Theron in Christian Dior

Sarah Jessica Parker in Chanel

Kate Winslet in Yves St. Laurent

Which one was your favourite?

Sandra Bullock and Kate Winslet looked very old Hollywood style (40s?) glamour girl with their sleek hair and fitted dresses.

I just adore Elie Saab however I think the colour is a bit wishy washy on Anna Kendrick although the design is stunning. Cameron Diaz is in a classically lovely dress.

I'm not into ruffles although Demi and Elizabeth keep them low at least!

Meryl and Helen just looked divine. Both dresses really suited them.

I like Jennifer Lopez's dress, except I wonder if she could sit down as the dress looked REALLY tight! Maggie was very bold with her print dress, and I liked the colour and draping(although not the somewhat asymmetric look) of Penelope's gown.

On the negative side I didn't like the breast rosettes of Charlize's dress. Sarah Jessica tried to look Audrey Hepburn-ish but looked old. I didn't like Diane Kruger's mishmash and Carey looked good for a young woman although I've never been a fan of a high front/low back unless its just a split.

Picky, aren't I!!!! I did enjoy looking at all the fashions though :) One thing WAS disappointing - where were the 'rocks'? (Thank goodness for the Brits and their necklaces!)

I love your favorites! My favorites were Zoe Saldana (in Givenchy Haute Couture), Jennifer Lopez and Cameron Diaz - I KNEW that Oscar de la Renta dress would worn at the Oscars!

Chris March? Like from Project Runway?

Charlize Theron's was kind of odd in my opinion, but loved the rest!

I thought Sandra Bullock was just stunning! Maggie is one of my favorite people and I loved her watercolor print. I can't believe Chris March designed that dress for Meryl! It was lovely, don't get me wrong, but doesn't seem like what I know of him through PR! I do not like those swirls over Charlize's breasts, or the color of Demi Moore's gown although the dress itself is the best of them all!

Ms Cruz gets my vote as bested dress. She just radiates glam.

Demi knocked it outta the park for me. Also adored Sandy, Diane, Cameron, Carey and Meryl!

Meryl Streep is just a class act all the way and her look last night exuded just that! Demi Moore looked fabulous as always but is it me or does she look even younger than usual?! :)

Such a beautiful post! Cameron's gown was my favorite! I'd love to have it hanging in my closet. If we are talking bling, I'd LOVE Kate Winslet's necklace! I love it!

I am sorry to have slacked on the blog award you gave me. I promise to work on it tonight! xox MBM

I agree with MBM... loved Cameron's. Thought Anna Kendrick's dress was lovely, but what's up with those shoes. They did. not. go. with. the. style. of. the. dress. period!

Great pics from the Oscars! There were several dresses that had an architectural feel to them, like Jennifer Lopez's. I admire the work that went into making them. Sandra's was old school Hollywood - perfect for the evening. I liked SJP's as well - gorgeous.
