Psst....I Have a Secret

I dream of having my own bedroom.

Now, I want to go on the record saying I love my husband and he is a wonderful man. With that said, he is a very restless sleeper and on occasion he has been known to snore something awful. I, on the other hand, require complete stillness, darkness and silence to get a good night's sleep.

I don't need to make it a permanent move either, just a room where I can escape to every once in awhile for some quiet time and a nap (or a 10 hour sleep marathon!).
I voice my desire occasionally to my husband but he doesn't seem to get it and looks at me like I am joking around so I daydream in silence now.

A few days ago, I was reading a hilarious post written by the ever so charming Mrs. Bliss at Housewife Bliss (click on the link or here) about the trials of escaping for a few moments of solitary bath time and it got me thinking about it once again.

I figure since I have shared my little secret with all of you, there is no harm in occasionally showing you some images of what my daydreams look like!

I know this is fantasizing in a very large way but what post on my dream bedroom would be complete without some images of Jackie Kennedy's White House bedroom! Does it get any better???

I have been known to slip into our guest bedroom on more than one occasion to get some sleep. My husband has a horrible snoring problem. I totally get your post !

That dressing room is divine! I love it.

In my perfect world I would have my own house. Hubby and the kids would visit for dinner and Sunday Brunch. ;)

I do have my "own" bathroom, but I get no privacy in it! (sigh)

Beautiful bedrooms! I hope you don't mind if I quote my grandmother here. She was a very wise woman and said "sex is sex. You can have it anywhere. Sleep? Now, that's what's really important!" She and grandpa had separate bedrooms decorated in their own style and it worked great for them!

We dream in the same color, loving the nook, and the teal from Alkemie, love the headboard!
My mother passed away 4 years ago, she preached JBK style to me religiously. I love to come here and share it with you, it helps to keep the memories alive. Thank you from the bottom of my Bumpkin heart!

I hate to admit it, but I so agree with Erin's Grandmother. A very wise woman. I adore my wife, but 8hrs of peaceful sleep.....

This is not such a bad idea, in fact they are starting to build houses with his and her suites because of sleep. I love what Erin's grandma said..it is so true. And I know the feeling of wishing to have 2 different houses sometimes...would make it seem like dating and we would all get more excited about seeing our mate. Nice post..I like it very much!

I sooo understand you - this is my "goal" too - and it is 4:00 am here, and I escaped our bedroom because "he" makes a noise like a starting plane... I will have my "Boudoir" soon, am already working on it. I do have the bed already ! and a mirror... keep working on your dream. Sleep is so important, and dreaming too !

First off, thank you so much for the mention, I am tickled pink. Bar me (living in London provides space issues) the women in my family all have their own rooms, and the men too for that matter -- and it works like a dream. They all have a shared bedroom, but each have a corner of the home they call theirs, decorated their way with their treasures in it. I am looking forward to moving to AZ so I can claim my own space, and like you have a cat napping haven. I hope you get yours soon.

Wow, I have never seen the pictures of Jackie's bedroom before. I don't mind sharing the bedroom - although I am sleeping next to a hamster - but I would most definitely desire a dressing room such as JBK's. A dream indeed!

you can always dream! and it might as well
be of jackie's bedroom.

my dad was a sonic boom of a snorer! don't
know how my mom could stand it. i could hear
him in my room with my door shut!

thank goodness, my husband is not.

sorry yours is.

My Little Boudoir said...

This would be like your very own "boudoir" :)

I love these photos. My favorites are, the first one and six. Can you tell why? The tufted buttons, of course.

Lovely bedroom photos, we should go back in time when a gentleman had his own room and a lady had her boudoir, they could meet in one or the other for romantic interludes, but had their own sanctuary to return to when they felt like it.

I'm with you, Mommy Lisa & Ent. Mom! I love all of your images. I'm relaxed just looking at them. I kept thinking "I wonder if there are locks on the doors?" LOL Have a great week. xox MBM

I could use just one night in one of those rooms! Heavenly! I hear you, girl!

You and I are very much alike! I must have complete silence and a very dark room to sleep. I'm so envious of my kids who can fall asleep anywhere! And, from time to time, I need my space. If I could splurge on a king-size bed, I would do it! Love that you included Jackie's room. :)

We share the same dream. . . all the rooms in blue would work for me, and JBKO's dressing room has always been my dream since the first time I saw a photograph of it some 30 years ago!!

Trouble here is we both snore (or so he says) and it would be a toss-up on who should leave! Sleep is important though..........so everybody must get it somehow as it makes the rest of the day so much more pleasant. Have a wonderful Easter weekend.
